Community Playlist 029

Monish Rohra hails from the hospitality industry and I’d definitely agree that he is an extremely hospitable person. Our paths crossed back in the day, when we were in our teens. However those were the days when my life was rather simple and I didn’t know much about clubbing and partying. However, there are a lot of people from the neighbourhood who vouch that Monish plays a big role in their social lives. Monish brings people together and has been doing so for years – whether it is hosting his friend’s birthday at any of his properties, throwing some great Diwali parties or to organising public events at Cafe Terra and the recent ‘Late Night Jazz’ nights at Verandah that have picked up like lightning. We both know the challenges of being in an industry that involves events but the passion and perseverance to keep going over cedes everything else. He is definitely one person who kept pushing on despite the highs and lows. If you haven’t attended any of their Jazz Nights yet, we would highly recommend you to do so and until you await for the weekend, you can tune into his playlist of carefully curated tunes from special periods/phases of his life. Here is to many more experiences/moments of bringing people together!

Also props to Varun Kapoor for the on point caricature 🙂

“Selection of my playlist has been from various time periods of my up bringing. I am one those people who listens to a track on repeat when I fall in love with it. That’s why music for me brings back memories that don’t usually cross your mind. Every of these tracks bundles happy memories from my past of that particular phase of life. It’s a very similar feeling one gets when they smell a particular thing that remind them of growing up. Being brought up in Bombay, we’ve had the privilege of hearing all sorts of sounds and this city is compared to any leading city of the world, but rock music somehow tops my list mainly because of its peak during my growing up!” – Monish Rohra
