It’s very rare to find Lauren Pereira not grooving to the music. I have always seen her with so much energy on the dance floor. Little did I know that production / set design and decor was her forté, until I witnessed the amazing job done for the second edition of Blurry Slur’s & Orbs & Zen’s conceptual night ‘Framed’ which was the circus edition. Lauren completely transformed the place and there was a great vibe. Suddenly I got my thinking cap on where we decided to push the boundaries a bit and spend some money on production for our next gig (which was Parra for Cuva) as it definitely adds a certain experiential element. As much as we would have loved to do the decor across all the cities the ever popular ‘budget constraint’ issue made it difficult for us, hence we only tapped into Mumbai! Trying to do basic DIY production / decor for most of our gigs, it was a great feeling to just have a meeting, brain storm with ideas and leave it all on Lauren’s shoulders to take it from there. I vividly remember walking into antiSOCIAL around 8 PM on the night of the Mumbai gig, having zero clue what was going on all day and hoping the outcome looked exactly like how we discussed things… I was amazed and in awe! She nailed it spot on and created the exact dreamscape we had envisioned.
It is important to get someone on your team who understands the pulse of your work and enjoys music with the same passion you do! After the successful Mumbai leg of Parra for Cuva, we created a more stripped down, grunge, raw vibe for our first birthday celebrations with Jasper James. Her hard work and efforts surely came to light as she bagged a couple of more projects along the way and eventually started her own design company called the The Design Brewing Collectiv. Keep up that happy go lucky spirit, Lauren as it’s so god damn infectious! We’re ecstatic to have her share her favourite tunes with us for this week’s community playlist!
“Music makes me so happy, I love to dance. It gives me a sort of feeling that goes through my spin, giving me a chill, sending a signal to my brain and makes me move with a smile slapped across my face. I listen to whole lot of different music and have been introduced a number of artists and songs by so many different people over the last few years.
I don’t know where to start, but I can point out a few of my favs, most played tracks, that when I’m driving around or just laying in bed I always go back too and they just sort of comfort me. I dedicate this playlist to all those who like to move a little to the left and a little to the right and just wanna have some fun!” – Lauren Pereira
