Today’s community playlist is extremely special courtesy my person, best friend and partner in crime – Farhan Shaikh. Farhan and I met at a gig sometime in March 2014 and little did I know that he would a part of my core. We bonded instantly and our friendship got stronger with each passing day. We even travelled to Europe together where our holiday was mostly revolved around music and festivals. It was his first time in Europe and I will never forget the look on his face when we found out on Resident Advisor that Maceo Plex is playing the same night we landed into Munich. There were a lot of instances when I observed the love he had (still has) for me as a person and soon after we were in a beautiful relationship filled with mutual respect, understanding and utmost care for each other.
Farhan has always been a go-getter. That’s exactly how he got into the first university of his choice – Duke. He always wanted to spend some time in another country, experience the culture especially the music culture and get the opportunity to work. Yes, he faced his share of challenges but with a vision so clear he was successful in ticking everything off the list as he now works as a Consultant with a cruise company. We are not together anymore but I can say with utmost conviction that he is the best person I know. From gigs and festivals in India & Europe and constant exchange of music on a daily basis; introducing the other to an interesting act I would give an arm and leg for this man. He celebrates his birthday on March 11th hence I wanted to host his community playlist today and send my warmest and most genuine wishes wishing him lots of love and luck in all his endeavours. Here is to good times filled with lots and lots of music and remember, you will always be my Number One.
Before we get down to his playlist, here are a few words shared by the Birthday Boy himself, ” For anyone who knows me, knows I consume copious amounts of music on a daily basis so it was almost impossible to cut down to 10 songs and there were so many more I would love to add. I’m also someone who gets addicted to something and goes OD. These are basically songs I have played in my life over 100 times on repeat. This definitely best describes my palette and musical journey over the years. I am truly blessed to have meet some people with amazing music taste (including Aneesha) who have shaped this list in some form. Massive thanks to WAVLNGTH for this opportunity and to Aneesha for your passion for music which inspires me everyday. MuMBAI/India needs more entities like WAVLNGTH – open minded music communties, big ups!”
